Shambala was a blast, more than a tag line. Between late night walks, trips to geisha houses, cooking on gas and getting groovy in the Twist and Spout; we managed to play to a packed circus tent (we lost count at 1300) Despite a few sound and running time issues we still left the crowd chorusing for more. It was also humbling to be mentioned in the featured artists section alongside The Hypnotic Brass Band, The Destroyers and The Bays to name a few. You must check out The Hypnotic Brass Band and The Destroyers, they were the highlights of the festival for me.

It was also great to come home and play the Stockroom to an intimate crowd of sweaty friends. We also got to world premier our Hip-Hop Medley to thunderous applause which was great (Running times, eh?). It was great to finally get a date sorted with promoters X-Ray Horse since we were originally supposed to play their debut night but had to pull out due to other commitments.

There’s also a page for Bishops Love Sci-fi fans on the ‘ol Facebook, it went live around five minutes ago, although myself and Mr Roberts are choosing not to divulge too much information on the project there’s a small insight for those interested.

Barker Presents: Big Bad Bernie – The Remixes

It’s good to see Sheffield moving.

Tramlines has been and gone but it doesn’t mean that Sheffield still isn’t hosting a top line of Musicians, DJ’s and Producers week in week out.

The right honuary Gordon Barker has released an amazing collection of remixes revolving around a very angry Partridge styled answer phone message from his disgruntled boss. On the playroll are an amazing host of artists including M.I. Loki, Squire of Gothos, Deadbeat, K.I.D. LI.B. to name a few. Distributing an online release is Sheffields own Planet Terror Records, who’ve steadily been pushing new music on their Netlabel, including releases from Barbarix, Robo Kotch and Titus 12.

The EP is a punchy mix of Dubstep, Ambient, Dub and Experimental showing off some of the diverse talent and production from those detrimental to the Sheffield scene.

Shambala festival is only a week away and the anticipation is building within the Tentacle Camp. Headlining the Kamikaze Tent on the first night of the festival is certainly a bold statement and we’re looking forward to making it. Sandwiched between an all female grime trio dubbed Octopussy and a House DJ will make for interesting results.

We’re going to be bringing two live visual DJ’s along to give our special Shambala set a visual interpretation as well as some special surprises for both those in and out of the loop – Be prepared. It’s a nice feeling to headline your first ever festival experience, even better on the third day when you get to use the artists toilets and shower facilities.

Out of the 150+ bands performing, we’re tipped as one of the 7 bands not to miss over the bank-holiday weekend. – An impressive compliment in it’s own right. We’re hitting the stage for an hour starting from 10.00PM on Friday night.

We will also be selling our debut EP ‘Let’s Begin… Now’ all weekend so if you bump into us we’ll more than likely have a copy for you to purchase at a frugal price of £5. Alternatively you can purchase one online from Bi-Valve Recordings for the same price with free shipping to anywhere in the world*
