Hi folks, just resting up after hitting up the Off the Tracks Festival down in Donnington yesterday with the Tentaclay. I felt as if my skull was slightly pushing forward for most of the afternoon, which didn’t help proceedings. The Gig went well. -Apart from a few issues with sound and tech, I thought the baptism of fire approach worked well for our new Drummer and Saxophonist, well done to both Tim & Hannah respectively. So with the smell of fresh cowpats and middle class hippies out of nostrils range, let’s look ahead to some upcoming dates.

RBB are returning to The HiFi Club in Leeds to play another Sunday Joint next Sunday, September 12th. It’s always nice to be asked back and we really enjoyed playing the last time we were in Leeds. We’re (RBB) also playing our second gig at The Forum in Sheffield on Friday 24th of September and The Maze in Nottingham on Friday 1st October. Then off to Derby to play the Robert Ludlum Theatre on Friday October 22nd. 7BT are also confirmed to play the Oxjam Festival in Sheffield at the Forum on Sunday October 24th. More details will be added to the Live Events section.

With the Live Events taken care of, let’s segway into production. Renegades are heading into the studio soon, half of the second 7BT EP is recorded, I’ve been writing shit load of new material, spread across a lot different projects at various stages of completion. At the moment I’m currently getting to grips with Ableton, removing all my other DAW programs to force-learn it, getting back into DJ’ing with pads and working on an eclectic range of composistions. Keeping busy.

Whether you’re screaming come on England or taking the Charlie Brooker approach and hiding out behind the sofa, make sure to get yourselves down to Peace in the Park tomorrow. After three years, headlining two Opus stages and a debut slot, the Renegades and Tentaclay come together for one off special performance that’s going to be nothing short of amazing.

The fun starts at 6.20PM, we hope to see you there.

It’s Freshers week and with the influx of new students to the city, event promoters can finally breath a sigh of reflief. Thursday at the Harley is certainly a night to get educated. When we’re holding a forum, it’s best to take notes. This month we’ll be treating you to two live acts and Mr. Mercer, Baron Von Badd and myself will be holding down the plates until the early morning.

First on:

Bell Hagg Orkestar

“Bell Hagg Orkestar combines the bitter and twisted sounds of Poke with eastern eurpean troubadors Minnie Moosika. We got together in 2007 to play at the Firefly festival. Since then we’ve played in bars, cabarets and festivals around the UK. 2009: In June we played EcoFest and Peace in the Park – sheffield’s best day of musical merriment. Ecofest takes place at a beautiful hill top site near Lincoln. We were the final act on stage Friday night and got the whole field jumping around. Beat Herder in July was an amazing festival – a huge main stage (very scary) and loads of tents playing music all night long.”

The Broken Door

“TheBrokenDoor is a live improvised drum & bass band hailing from Manchester, UK. Writing tracks live as they play, they provide audiences with styles varying from your classic chill out dnb tracks to dance floor slamming tracks of substancial proportions.

Dropping famous vocal samples by famous artists from varying genres in their live set gives their audience new music with a sense of familiarity. The line up is a concoction of professional drum n bass musicians and engineers – Emma Welsby (drum n bass producer Dylemma) on vibraphone & vox, Dan Owens (composer, arranger and session musician) on bass, Adam Owens (drummer extraordinaire) on kit and Liam Maloney (producer and engineer Womb) on synths/electronics.”

Barker Presents: Big Bad Bernie – The Remixes

It’s good to see Sheffield moving.

Tramlines has been and gone but it doesn’t mean that Sheffield still isn’t hosting a top line of Musicians, DJ’s and Producers week in week out.

The right honuary Gordon Barker has released an amazing collection of remixes revolving around a very angry Partridge styled answer phone message from his disgruntled boss. On the playroll are an amazing host of artists including M.I. Loki, Squire of Gothos, Deadbeat, K.I.D. LI.B. to name a few. Distributing an online release is Sheffields own Planet Terror Records, who’ve steadily been pushing new music on their Netlabel, including releases from Barbarix, Robo Kotch and Titus 12.

The EP is a punchy mix of Dubstep, Ambient, Dub and Experimental showing off some of the diverse talent and production from those detrimental to the Sheffield scene.
